Another Irregular Update!

Hello everyone,

I am back with an update! It has been a long long time since I updated this art blog o' mine, sorry about that. But hopefully the size and scope of this update will make up for its irregularity.

First things first, I've been updating and making design changes to my website, so go take a look:

http://www.mayhemgraphics.com/

The big news is that the ad campaign for CorelDRAW was launched a couple of weeks ago. I did all the illustrations for the ads including a comic book. Check it out ay http://www.corel.com/.

Here are some of the illustrations I created for the campaign. This first is a model sheet for te "Artman" character.

Next are model sheets for the main heroes of the story:to be continued. I was going to add more but using this blog is too difficult. MY pictures always end up going to the top causing me to reformat the blog every time I add a picture. Annoying. if you know a way to avoid that let me know.

Published Illustrator

Some cool news this week, I found out that the first game product I did art for was officially published. I created about 28 small illustrations for a series of figure flats (think game tokens). I did the work for a company called Pinnacle. They create roleplaying games using a system called Savage Worlds. I also found out that they want to illustrate soem creature picture for a book about monsters for one of their settings called Solomon Kane. It should be an interesting and challenging job since I'll be painting the creatures.

I'm slowly getting more work from publishers. With my stuff being published I should be getting more recognition now. It was definetely nice seeing my name in the credits of the product. A good credit to add to my resume.
In other news I recently completed the pencils for the cover of the second issue of Bang. I'm planning to paint this one. I have about 4 pages of pencilling to do on issue two and then the inking can begin. So for all of you eagerly waiting for issue 2, all I can say is look for it in the summer!

New Stuff

Hi All. It seems I can't seem to get the hang of giving regular updates. I've been doing a couple of paying gigs but unfortunately I can really post anything from those gigs yet. I have done some stuff for myself too, and that I can post, starting with this painting I finished on Friday. It is referenced from a photo of Liana K I liked. I think it turned out pretty good.

I also re-inked a pencil sketch that I had. I was never happy with the first ink job I did on it.

I've alsoi been working on the second isue of the Bang comic. Here are a couple of preview pages:

I've been sending my art portfolio out to various publishers. I've already gotten one job that way hopefully I'll get more. Hopefully I'll also have another update soon.

Finally! an Update!

Hey everyone...well the one or two of you who actually read this....um, maybe no one does...

Anyway, it's been a while since my last update, I guess July! Well, I've not been idle. Since the Wizard world con I attended the Paradise Con in Toronto. I networked and met a lot of interesting and cool people there. It is always a fun time. I even got a small job out of it working for a publisher in Toronto called Crystal Fractals. It was small job but it is a start. I finished the pages a few weeks ago. I'm not sure if I can post them right now since they've not been published yet. When they are I'll let you know.
Recently I got to know a local DJ in Ottawa named Chelsea Miller. She works at the radio station Live 88.5 and is the coolest DJ in the city. Anyway, I ended up doing a cartoon of her that turned out really well. She really was happy with it.

I also just finished the first issue of the western comic Bang. I finished the cover today and I think it turned out well with my colours. Overall I am happy with the work I did. I can see areas where I can improve of course, but I think people will like it. The plan is to have it ready for sale by the end of the month.

Well, that's it for now. Hopefully I'll be more regular with updates from now on.

Cheers,

K-man out

Wizard World Chicago

I was at Wizard World Chicago this past weekend. I was at Mason Jonson's table, he's the writer that I am working with on a western themed comic called Bang! WE submitted it to a few publishers and I had some review my portfolio. Here is the five-page preview of the comic:

While I was down I met Liana K from the Ed the Sock show, she's "red". She's really nice and we talked about me possibly doing some work on the comic. I hedged my bet by doing a sketch of the lovely Liana, here's the unfinished version:

My next show is the Paradise Con in Toronto, July 12-13, hope to see you there!

Business Card

I'm still working away on my Old West Comic, I will post pages from it soon. In the meantime I recently created and got my first business cards printed! Here's a preview of the card.

I got it printed just in time for the Chicago Comic Con that I will be attending on the 26th of June.

Drawing from Life

I've been going to a life drawing studio over the past few weeks. I used to go pretty regularily but about 2 years ago I stopped going to it. I decided to start again and have really been enjoying it. Here are some samples from the last few sessions.
